Emotional Intelligence Workshops for Teams

Does your team struggle with trust and collaboration? Does it struggle with shared vision?

Do you ever wonder why?

Do you desire to build a culture of mutual respect, shared goals, and building each other up?

I talk to engineers about feelings (!)

That’s right – it sounds like risky business. Yet, it is important. High emotional intelligence is a set of personal and social capabilities that help us respond to life’s challenges in a positive, effective manner. High EQ leads to better life and professional outcomes, more rewarding relationships, lower anxiety and greater personal happiness.

Many people “think with their head” and ignore the “heart” and the “gut”. For many, talking about how they feel about each other, the work and the environment is taboo. Yet, our emotional states drive many of our actions and often cause us to show up not at our best. Many analytical teams appreciate the opportunity to talk about what’s really going on for them deep down - and how to harness their feelings for good.

In this workshop, teams learn the basic definition of emotional intelligence, how to assess and improve it. We spend time understanding our personal saboteurs (the negative emotional and behavioral tendencies that are unique to each of us).

Participants leave the workshop equipped with tools for structured self-observation, the ability to better understand their feelings and manage their impulses, greater empathy for themselves and others. By witnessing their boss’s experience with emotional development, teams begin to see their leaders as fellow humans and develop trust with their leaders.

We create a team profile of the saboteurs to understand the team dynamic. Teams acquire shared language that allows them to empathize with emotional states of their team members, and open up dialog about what is really behind interactions.
